Abuse at Pet Food, Shelters, Animal Housing Facilities

Many dogs, cats, and other animals are housed at Pet Food testing centers, Shelters, and other Animal Housing Facilities. Some of the facilities perform tests on the animals while others work to adopt animals. Abuse takes place at many of these housing facilities, some more than others. Pet Food Testing Centers such as Hill's Pet Nutrition Center of Topeka, Kansas provide poor housing for the animals and abuse from workers. There are reports of abuse from workers at animal adoption facilities or shelters.

Many animal housing facilities are scrambling to provide better living conditions for their animals to clean up their reputation, however, there are no efforts in improving the treatment and care of the animals. Some facilities may look very good on the outside but what goes on behind closed doors is unimaginable.

Most of the management and employees at these sites do give adequate care for the animals but some do not. Care takers that do not provide quality care and management that looks the other way have no place in the Animal Care profession.

Anyone who works for an animal care facility such as the ones in the Pet Food Industry, will tell you that there is no way to complain about abuse in the facility without suffering consequences. On this site, anyone can report abuse "Anonymously" and employees are encouraged to do so to protect their job.

  1. Working at Hills Pet Nutrition Center can be fun if you can put up with seeing some of the staff abuse the animals. Kim Murray is a vet tech here and I don't care for it when she comes in with a hangover and then takes it out on the dogs. One day she got so crazy and started kicking the crap out of a dog. The dog had not really done anything wrong but was jumping up near her and this girl went ballistic and really hurt the poor dog. She should of been fired but no one seems to care about the treatment of the animals unless the public finds out.

Please make sure that this gets to the right people. I work at Hills Pet Nutrition Center in Topeka Kansas and have been there a few years. Recently an employee has been bringing a cattle prod to work and shocking the dogs. The person doing this is above me so I cannot complain or I take a chance on losing my job. I don't know what this person is getting out of hurting the dogs but something needs to be done right now.

When reporting abuse, include where it took place and how it was done. Employees are advised to report abuse as "Anonymous"
